Gill has worked in the sustainable energy field for over twenty years, and has carried out research to support climate change policy development for the EU, national governments and Local Authorities. An engineer by training, she also provides hands-on support to businesses and other organisations on energy efficiency and renewable energy.
In a voluntary capacity, Gill is a director of a community energy organisation based in Lancaster, MORE Renewables.
