Ageing Well: New Year, New You
‘Ageing well in towns and cities: why the natural environment matters’ comes to the Whitworth Art Gallery on Oxford Road, Manchester for one day only.
The ‘Green Infrastructure and the Health and wellbeing Influences on an Ageing population’ (GHIA) project aims to better understand the benefits and values of urban green and blue spaces for older people and how specific greening projects can be best used to support healthy ageing in urban areas.
Who should come?
The event is for people working in policy and practice associated with arts and heritage, green infrastructure, health and wellbeing, and/or age-friendly cities.
What can you expect?
Programme leaders will be sharing the learning from a three-year project centred on understanding the value and benefits of urban nature for health and well-being in later life.
There will be presentations of findings, talks from the project partners working across Greater Manchester and interactive sessions showcasing transferable methods and tools.
GHIA’s research has been based in Greater Manchester but findings apply more widely. Please do join the team and get involved, wherever you are from. A detailed programme will be circulated in December.
Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment! Registration is free via https://nature-and-ageing-well.eventbrite.co.uk
GHIA is a collaboration between three Greater Manchester Universities and: the GM Ageing Hub; GM Centre for Voluntary Organisations’ Ambition for Ageing project; The Canal and River Trust; Manchester Climate Change Agency; Manchester City Council; Manchester Arts and Galleries Partnership; and City of Trees.
