Paul is Professor of Creative Community Engagement at University of Salford and an artist.  He has been working with other artists on social intervention projects, regeneration initiatives and urban renewal programmes for over 25 years.  His current obsessions focus on creativity as a stimulus for collective enterprise and engagement.  His work is designed to bridge discipline fields in response to a broad spectrum of interests and motivations defined by context.  He has worked on a range of outputs from architectural commissions for integrated public art schemes to methods of representing environmental aesthetics as a means of creating pathways to new social interactions relating to place.  He continues to make and produce more speculative works using painting, photography and installation, mostly in reference to landscape identity.

Paul is currently project lead for the Salford Learning Co-operative, a collaboration between University of Salford and  Salford Trust. His role is Special Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor with a brief for supporting delivery partnerships focussed on flexible adult learning and new learning engagements. He also holds an Enterprise Chair for Creative Community Engagement and teaches in the areas of Contemporary Fine Art practice and Creative Education. His roles outside of the University include: Joint Chair of the National Association for Fine Art Education; Director of Islington Mill Arts Club PLC; Non-Executive Director of Community Engagement Pioneers CIC; Director of Guns to Goods, CIC; Director of SHOW//METAL CIC and Director of the Creative Leftfield Co-operative.
