Real Junk Food Project Manchester hosts: 'Just Eat It – A Food Waste Story'
We've brought you several stories over the past year about the Real Junk Food Project Manchester (RJFPM), an organisation that gathers food that would otherwise go to waste from supermarkets, restaurants and a number of other sources, and turns it into healthy meals for those in need on a pay-as-you-feel donation basis.
RJFPM is committed to educating people on the issue of food waste and as part of this is very proud to be hosting the Manchester Premiere of 'Just Eat It - A Food Waste Story' at The Wonder Inn, Manchester on Thursday 24th September.
The documentary sees filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of food waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge.
After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping and survive only on discarded food.
What they discover is truly shocking.
As well as the film screening, the evening will include;
6.30pm: Drinks and mingling
7.15pm: Introduction to the film and a bit of information about Real Junk Food Manchester
7.30pm: Film screening
9pm: Discussion and drinks
"We want to raise awareness about the scale of food waste and the reasons it happens, but we want to do it in a really positive way that inspires action", said Corin Bell, Director at Real Junk Food Project Manchester. "We hope a social movie night followed by drinks and discussion will do just that!”
Tickets for the event are available from Eventbrite and are strictly limited. To purchase tickets head to: http://justeatitmanchesterscreening.eventbrite.co.uk
