Supporting good ideas for Manchester – #MakeMCR

It is a joint initiative between We Love Manchester (the Lord Mayor’s charity) and crowd-funding specialists, Spacehive and welcomes almost any idea, as long it is a time-bound project that benefits the city.

Project submissions are welcomed by anyone looking to improve their local area and are diverse in nature, including building community gardens/playgrounds, holding sport and music events, running exhibitions and shows, sprucing up high streets, and developing tourist attractions.

Current projects on the site include a 100 day bid to save the derelict Grade II listed Ancoats Dispensary from demolition to transform it into a fantastic hub for the community and creative industries and also a fund seeking to open a new room in Wythenshawe Hall full of items from our past Tudor times.

The scheme has enjoyed recent success with the full-funding of a project seeking to raise £39,000 to transform Manchester’s Stevenson Square into a green urban oasis with trees, hanging baskets and edible plants!.

By using #MakeMCR to crowd fund for campaigns, people can reach a much bigger crowd of potential funders, connect with people who can offer support; and can find out about and get involved with other potential funding opportunities.

To find out more about #MakeMCR and the other great projects they support, head to their website, contact #MakeMCR@manchester.gov.uk or follow them on Twitter @MakeManchester.
